How to Choose a VPS for Agents, Bots & Websites

1. Describe the work you need to run
For API-based agents and bots, start with the runtime, queue, and state you need to keep running. Browser automation also needs room for browser processes, dependencies, and concurrent jobs. 2. Compare resources using the same units
Check the CPU allocation and whether it is shared or dedicated. Physical cores and virtual CPUs are different resources. Keep GB and GiB, and TB and TiB, visible when comparing memory and transfer. Read the provider’s storage and backup terms; the catalog does not assume that local disk includes backups.
3. Check the network as well as the server
A port limit describes a rate, while a transfer allowance describes a quantity. Metering can count outgoing traffic, both directions, or the larger direction. Use the network and bandwidth comparison to inspect those differences.
4. Choose a location and verify the route
Browse datacenter regions close to your users and APIs. Use the provider’s looking glass or a trial to check your actual destination. If you need China-optimized connectivity, compare the exact CN2 profile and location; a Premium label alone is not a CN2 commitment.
5. Compare the amount you will actually pay
Annual plans show their upfront charge and monthly equivalent. Usage-based prices are labeled estimates. Check setup fees, taxes, bandwidth charges, renewal terms, and stock directly with the provider.
When should I consider bare metal?
Compare dedicated hardware when your requirements call for a whole machine. Evaluate the workload, management effort, hardware configuration, and network cost together; the directory makes no blanket performance guarantee.
